My personal view on what is up or down after the auto show. Overall had a good day at the NAIAS.

Trending Up:

Two Door Cars: The Toyota FT-1, Lexus RC F, Kia Stinger, Nissan IDx, are a few on a long list of two doors that found themselves at the auto show. Its a nice addition to see, especially since they were all awesome. Now on to production with you!

Manual Transmissions: Maybe it was just the Germans, but my Dad was shocked (read: happy) to see so many average cars ans sedans with the manual option shown off. And I will admit too, it was a nice change of pace after the few years of showing off the paddles.

Cadillac: Most of the Show was fantastic. They moved themselves from there regular spot with the GM family to a new spot to face head on with the Germans, right across the aisle from Mercedes to be exact. The show stopping Elmiraj was the center showcase, but the most interesting car for me was the new ATS coupe. It looked fantastic and the inevitable V will should be great. Other than one exception it was a fantastic stand. Also there was a V wagon, which is always cool.

Gran Turismo 6: Odd addition right? Gran Turismo was used in simulators at Ford, BMW, Chevy, and I pretty sure a few more as well. Seriously they were everywhere.

Trending Down

SUV Styling: While the out going era of SUV styling may not have been inspiring it was also not offensive to look at. The new incoming style is just horrible, especially for GM's offerings. Others are pretty bad too, but GM's are the worse. The never ending chrome grills of the Escalade and Suburban are horrible and ugly and I hate them.

Honda/Acura: I blasted through the Honda stand, other than a new Fuel Cell car they had nothing really worth looking at. Same with Acura, maybe I would have taken a close look at the race car they brought, but put it up on a wall far from view. C'mon guys! Give me at least a concept car, please!

Size Equality for the Stands: Trying to squeeze my way through the Jaguar/Land Rover stand and Tesla stands made it difficult to enjoy the F-Type of Model S. But then you go and compare that to Ford. They put an entire (non-functioning) assembly line in their stand. Next year Ford be a bit more frugal with your size use at the auto show.
